About Us

When James P. Sargen created the company in 2004, he based the name “TriActive” on the three benefits of fitness: a healthy mind, body, and spirit. Sargen envisioned outdoor exercise equipment designed for all age groups and levels of fitness: “I wanted to create a company that empowered all individuals to enjoy exercising outdoors. My vision was to build outdoor fitness equipment that could be installed in parks, community areas, schools, college campuses, fitness zones, and outdoor gyms for everyone to use.”

Today, TriActive America’s success embodies the founder’s original goals. Fitness trails, Fitness Zones™ and outdoor gyms using TriActive Fitness™ products exist in almost every state in the nation, as well as numerous locations overseas. You can find our fitness stations in use at parks, schools, universities, community centers, resorts, hotels, golf courses, YMCAs, military installations, private homes, medical facilities, cruise ships, camps, and organizations.

“TriActive America’s expert team specializes in functional designs that maximize the workout potential as well as provide ease of use and variety,” says Sargen. Among the company’s staff and consultants are experts in kinesiology, biomechanics, ergonomics, obesity, physical well-being, and athletic performance. “In contrast to other companies, our staff of local engineers has designed each piece to fit the North American stature,” the CEO adds. “Our competitors tend to design products to fit a smaller person.”

In addition, TriActive America seeks to combat the obesity epidemic through the services and products that the company offers. “It’s more than just selling equipment,” the CEO reflects. “It’s fulfilling a mission to fight the obesity epidemic. Communities taking responsibilities for fighting the obesity epidemic through providing free outdoor gyms in parks and other public areas…universities, schools, organizations, hospitals, corporations – we are creating opportunities for everyone in the nation to improve their health and well-being via exercise!”

At TriActive America, every employee wants to help your community step up to a new level of well-being. Through TriActive outdoor gyms, Fitness Zones™, and fitness trails, we can achieve that goal together. “We’re a for-profit company that operates like a non-profit organization,” says TriActive America’s CEO James Sargen. “We’ve consciously made a decision to help every individual enjoy a healthier lifestyle through the power of exercise!”
